What is Thigh Lift Surgery?
A thigh lift, or thighplasty, is a body contouring procedure that reshapes the thighs by removing excess skin and fat, resulting in smoother, more toned leg contours. This procedure is ideal for individuals who have lost significant weight or have sagging skin due to aging and genetics. There are different types of thigh lifts including inner thigh lift (targets inner thigh), bilateral thigh lift (addresses inner and outer thighs), and vertical thigh lift (treats entire thigh). The procedure can dramatically improve the appearance of the thighs and enhance overall body proportions.
The Procedure
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes 2-4 hours depending on the extent. For an inner thigh lift, incisions are made in the groin crease extending downward and wrapping around the back of the thigh. For more extensive correction, vertical incisions from groin to knee may be needed. Excess skin and fat are removed, and underlying tissue is tightened. Liposuction may be used for additional contouring. Remaining skin is carefully re-draped and secured. The incisions are strategically placed to be as inconspicuous as possible.
Ideal Candidates
Ideal candidates have excess thigh skin that doesn't respond to exercise, maintain stable weight, have good skin elasticity, are non-smokers, in good health, and understand scarring trade-offs.
