What is Extended Tummy Tuck with Liposuction?
This comprehensive body contouring procedure combines an extended abdominoplasty with extensive liposuction from hip to hip, offering the most complete transformation of the midsection. The extended tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens muscles across the abdomen, flanks, and lower back, while strategic liposuction sculpts and refines the contours throughout the entire treatment area. This powerful combination is ideal for patients who have undergone significant weight loss and have both excess skin and stubborn fat deposits. By addressing both concerns in a single surgery, patients achieve dramatic, harmonious results with optimal body proportions.
The Procedure
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes 4-6 hours. First, comprehensive liposuction is performed across the abdomen, flanks, waist, and lower back to remove excess fat and create refined contours. Then, the extended tummy tuck incision is made from hip to hip, extending around to the flanks and lower back. Excess skin and any remaining superficial fat are removed. Abdominal muscles are tightened from sternum to pubic bone, and oblique muscles are also addressed. The belly button is repositioned for natural appearance. All tissue is carefully re-draped and secured. Multiple drains are placed, and compression garments are applied.
Ideal Candidates
Ideal candidates have excess skin and fat extending around the torso, have achieved and maintained stable weight, experienced massive weight loss, have good skin elasticity, finished childbearing, are non-smokers, in excellent health, and ready for extended recovery period.
