What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is a surgical procedure that reshapes the nose to improve its appearance and/or function. This versatile surgery can address a wide range of concerns including a dorsal hump, wide or bulbous nasal tip, asymmetry, nostril size, nasal bridge width, and breathing difficulties. Rhinoplasty is one of the most complex facial surgeries, requiring artistic vision and technical expertise to create a nose that harmonizes beautifully with your unique facial features.
The Procedure
Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia and takes 2-3 hours depending on complexity. There are two main approaches: closed rhinoplasty (incisions inside the nose) and open rhinoplasty (small external incision across the columella). Your surgeon will reshape bone and cartilage, refine the nasal tip, adjust the bridge, and modify the nostrils as needed. Structural grafts may be used for support or definition. The goal is creating a natural-looking nose that complements your facial features while maintaining or improving breathing function.
Ideal Candidates
Ideal candidates are physically healthy individuals who are dissatisfied with their nose's appearance or have breathing difficulties due to structural problems. Good candidates have realistic expectations, fully developed facial growth (typically 16+ for females, 17+ for males), good general health, and are non-smokers. This procedure suits those seeking aesthetic improvement, functional correction, or both, who understand that final results take up to a year to fully manifest.
