What is a Full Facelift?
A full facelift, also known as a comprehensive rhytidectomy, is an advanced surgical procedure that addresses multiple areas of the face simultaneously. This transformative surgery targets the mid-face, lower face, neck, and temporal regions to correct sagging skin, deep wrinkles, jowls, and loss of facial definition. By repositioning underlying tissues and removing excess skin, a full facelift creates a naturally youthful appearance that can last 10-15 years.
The Procedure
The full facelift is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes 4-6 hours. Incisions are carefully placed along the hairline and around the ears to minimize visible scarring. Your surgeon will lift and reposition the SMAS layer (superficial musculoaponeurotic system), tighten underlying muscles, remove excess fat, and re-drape the skin for a smooth, natural result. The neck is addressed through additional incisions under the chin, and the temporal area is lifted to restore youthful contours to the upper face.
Ideal Candidates
Ideal candidates are individuals in good overall health who have significant signs of facial aging including deep nasolabial folds, jowls, loose neck skin, and mid-face sagging. Best results are seen in patients with good skin elasticity, realistic expectations, and a commitment to following post-operative care instructions. This procedure is most commonly performed on patients aged 50-70, though individual aging patterns vary.
